Description
The BrightSign LS445 is a commercial signage player, and the difference between that and a consumer streaming box shows up in the places that cost money later. It boots the same way every time, it plays the same content on schedule without supervision, and it is designed to run continuously for years rather than for an evening.
Video output is HDMI 2.0a. It decodes H.265 at 4K60 and H.264 at 4K30, along with Full HD at 60p, so it drives a 4K panel properly rather than upscaling a lower resolution feed. A Chromium based HTML5 engine handles widgets, dashboards, data overlays and simple motion graphics, which covers most of what retail and corporate signage actually needs.
Connectivity is built for installation rather than for a living room. Ethernet handles the network, USB Type C supports touchscreen interactivity and control peripherals, and audio comes out over both 3.5mm analog and SPDIF digital. An optional dual antenna Wi-Fi module is available where cabling is not practical.
The chassis is slim enough to sit behind a display or inside a tight enclosure, and the power connector locks, so a cleaner with a vacuum cannot take a screen offline. BrightSign OS is a purpose built signage operating system, which keeps the attack surface small and removes the update prompts and consumer software that plague general purpose devices used for signage.
Content is loaded via microSD and managed through the free BrightSign Control Cloud or a CMS of your choice.
